Intestinal dry food contains fish protein hydrolysate as the only animal protein source. Next to the positive effect on digestion, the hydrolysed proteins also have a very low allergenicity. The added fatty acids are able to downregulate inflammatory reactions, which is desirable in cats with an intestinal inflammation or atopy. The recommended duration of use for Intestinal is initially 3 to 8 weeks in case of food allergy or food intolerance, 3 to 12 weeks in case of gastro-intestinal problems and at most 2 months in case of dermatitis and hair loss. After extension of prescription, Intestinal can be fed for life as a complete dietary food.
